The Beginning of Post 148's Auxiliary: by Mel Greenier

Our American Legion Auxiliary Field-Allen Unit 148 formation began as an idea planted at a Bean supper on October 26, 2013 when Nina Braley and Patricia Learned asked the Post Commander Mel Greenier, “why doesn’t your Field-Allen Post have a ladies’ Auxiliary?”  We discussed it at our next monthly post meeting and the membership approved the idea.   Over the next few months more spouses applied for membership.  The post then approached, Marian Merrill, Dist. 1, President and Nancy Ronco, State Auxiliary President for information and guidance.  By April 2014 we had the 10 ladies’ applications needed for a Charter. The ladies gathered and signed the Charter application and it was submitted to State for approval.  On Sunday July 13, 2014 State and District Officers came to Windham and a formal Installation Ceremony was performed.
